Varieties used for comparison: 'INCALCOBLU' (Superbells Tabletop Blue) and 'Balcabdebu' (Cabaret Deep Blue)
Summary: The plants of 'CBRZ0019' are taller and have longer shoots than those of both reference varieties. The leaves of 'CBRZ0019' are longer than those of 'Balcabdebu'. The petioles of 'CBRZ0019' are shorter than the petioles of both reference varieties. The calyx of 'CBRZ0019' is shorter than that of 'INCALCOBLU' and longer than that of 'Balcabdebu'. The flowers of 'CBRZ0019' are larger than those of both reference varieties. The veins on the inner side of the corolla lobe of 'CBRZ0019' are weakly conspicuous whereas those for 'INCALCOBLU' have a conspicuousness which ranges from medium to strong and those for 'Balcabdebu' are of medium conspicuousness.

COROLLA LOBE (INNER SIDE): when newly opened dark violet (closest to RHS 83A), when fully opened dark violet (closest to RHS 83B) with narrow darker violet (darker than RHS 83A) along the fused parts of the corolla lobe, when aged medium violet (RHS N82A), small incomplete star-shaped area of dark violet (RHS 79A) at transition to corolla tube, absent or very small marking at transition to corolla tube

Origin & Breeding History: 'CBRZ0019' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Mitchell E. Hanes, in Gilroy, California, USA, in March 2015. The cross was made between the female parent, a proprietary seedling designated 'CAL2656-4', and the male parent, a proprietary seedling designated 'CAL4145-1'. The resultant seed was sown in August 2015 and 'CBRZ0019' was selected in October 2015 based on growth habit, flower colour and flowering time.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'CBRZ0019' was conducted in a polyhouse during the summer of 2021 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference varieties. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 30 cm diameter hanging baskets on April 26, 2021. Each basket contained 4 cuttings with a total of 5 baskets per variety. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of 10 plants, on June 10, 2021. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart. Mean differences were significant at the 5% probability level based on paired Student's T-tests.
