Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'Calitastic Mango'

Summary: The leaf blade of 'KLECA20803' has a narrow acute apex whereas that of 'Calitastic Mango' is obtuse. The calyx lobe of 'KLECA20803' is broad where is that of 'Calitastic Mango' is a medium width. The veins on the inner side of the corolla of 'KLECA20803' have a medium conspicuousness whereas those of 'Calitastic Mango' have a weak conspicuousness. The inner side of the newly opened corolla lobe for 'KLECA20803' is mainly medium yellow whereas that for 'Calitastic Mango' is mainly medium yellow orange. The inner side of the fully opened corolla lobe for 'KLECA20803' is mainly medium yellow whereas that for 'Calitastic Mango' is mainly dark yellow. The inner side of the aged corolla lobe for 'KLECA20803' is mainly light yellow whereas that for 'Calitastic Mango' is mainly a darker light yellow. The inner side of the corolla lobe of 'KLECA20803' is brown red at the transition to the corolla tube whereas that of 'Calitastic Mango' is orange red.

COROLLA LOBE (INNER SIDE): medium yellow (RHS 5A) when newly opened, medium yellow (RHS 7C) when fully opened, light yellow (RHS 9D) when aged, no secondary colour, small rounded area of brown red (RHS 180A) at transition to corolla tube, absent or very small marking at transition to corolla tube, truncate apex, absent or very weak colour change during growing season
COROLLA TUBE (INNER SIDE): medium yellow (RHS 7B), weak conspicuousness of veins

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLECA20803' originated from a controlled cross between the female parent, a proprietary seedling designated 'CA-2013-0250' and the male parent, a proprietary seedling designated 'CA-2015-6388', conducted in Stuttgart, Germany in August 2017. The resultant seedlings were selected in May 2018, based on plant habit, branching characteristics, flower size, flower appearance and time of flowering. The new variety 'KLECA20803' was finally selected for commercialization in May 2020.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLECA20803' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination application number 2021/1834, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2022. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
